In an era of shifting geopolitics, the term “pacifism” is being hijacked. The latest protagonist in this unsettling drama is the European Peace Project, an organisation whose “Peace Manifesto” sounds less like a call for harmony and more like a blueprint for European surrender. While their slogans drip with populist appeal, a closer look reveals a dangerous agenda designed to leave the continent defenceless.

Disarmament as a Death Sentence
The Project’s primary demand is the radical reduction of defence budgets and a halt to military modernisation across the EU. In the face of Russia’s aggressive revisionist policy, such a move is not a step toward peace; it is an invitation for invasion. By presenting military spending as the enemy of social welfare, the organisation manipulates public opinion to trigger the degradation of the EU’s military industry.

Dividing the House
The organisation is systematically driving wedges between Western and Eastern Europe. By sowing discord regarding collective security, they aim to paralyse the EU Council and NATO, effectively blocking essential aid to Ukraine. Their logic is simple: might make right. By advocating for concessions as the only path to peace, they are legitimising the right of stronger states to seize their neighbours’ land, effectively dismantling the fundamental principles of the UN and OSCE.
The ways to achieve the goals must be obvious and clear for many if not for all European leaders.
Weaponised Diplomacy: Replacing genuine negotiation with the fulfilment of ultimatums.
Victim Blaming: Shifting the moral responsibility for the war from the Russian aggressor onto Ukraine and its supporters.
The “Proxy War” Myth: Denying the Ukrainian people their agency by dismissing their fight for independence as a Western “proxy war” – a classic Kremlin talking point.
The Illusion of a Pause
The demand for an “immediate ceasefire” without de-occupation is perhaps their most cynical tactic. History teaches us that such pauses are merely operational breathing room for the aggressor to regroup for an even harsher escalation. The European Peace Project offers no security guarantees for the victims of aggression; they offer only a short-term illusion of stability in exchange for the destruction of a sovereign state.

A Symbolic Sabotage
The timing of their upcoming mass events – 9 May 2026 – is no coincidence. By choosing this date, the Project seeks to hijack the European “Never Again” sentiment and submerge it into the Russian “Victory Day” context. It is a symbolic devaluation of historical memory, suggesting that resistance is futile and only deepens tragedy.
Behind the facade of a “grassroots movement”, the European Peace Project displays all the hallmarks of centralised, professional coordination typical of foreign intelligence services. Their narratives – demilitarisation, stopping arms supplies, and “respecting” Russia’s security interests – are a mirror image of the Kremlin’s official demands.
Europe must wake up. This is not pacifism. It is a coordinated information campaign aimed at turning the continent into a zone of authoritarian influence. True peace requires the strength to defend it, not the cowardice to sign it away.
